So, if you cannot tell by the pictures (I say sarcastically), this was a great weekend! And what you are specifically getting a glimpse of is the newly wed’s, Matt and Lexi’s, wedding. A weekend that was filled with many sweet and wonder-filled moments.

From t-shirts that celebrated personalties, to Matt and Lexi’s amazing dance skills, to numerous games of rage cage and some beer die thrown in there as well (oh and I cannot forget flag football too), it was a weekend and celebration filled with moments and memories that are priceless.
And two of the biggest reflection points that characterize this now memory are:
One, the mysterious and profound nature of friendship. I met Matt, the groom, when I was 12 years old, well we met each other. And at that point in time, we did not have a choice in this meeting, but nonetheless the thread of friendship was weaved for our lives. I know I most likely contributed to Matt’s vexation in the beginning, as we had bunkbeds and I would consistently create dilemmas for Matt that required him to get down from the top bunk (we were 12!). But, I did not know that this seed of friendship would blossom into a 17 year old oak tree. And a friendship such that I got the honor to be a groomsman at this man’s wedding (Matt if you are reading this, participating as a groomsman meant a great deal to me, so much so words can do no justice).

So, I speak to this as a reflection point because here I have a friendship that transcends distance and time and yet is so meaningful. Matt and I only lived together in the same state for three years, yet here we are 17 years later and he is man who I consider a brother. The thread of our lives weaved together into a friendship, mysterious and profound.
The second reflection point, is the concept of love (Lexi if you are reading this, I know it takes two to tango and I have also seen your heart through actions, which I know significantly contributes to what I am about to say). Specifically, the rarity of love that I believe I have observed and exists between Matt and Lexi. Now, I am no expert on love, nor will I profess to know its depths, but I can say I have observed love between couples that is counterfeit and genuine. Matt and Lexi demonstrate the latter. And it is not as if they are aiming to portray the rarity of their love to the world, but that the love they have for each other is authentic by its very nature. A rare and wonderful experience to witness.

Thus, I am honored to have shared the moments that I have with these newly weds. (Lexi if you are reading this) I am honored to have shared, even if little, the time I have shared with you. For though many words may have not been spoken, who you are, your actions, spoke many volumes to me and I recognize that Matt chose wisely! Y’all both did.

Ahh. Marriage is a wonderful and sweet experience. I was so happy to get to share this precious moment with the now newly weds. I am now honored to share its meaning to me, with those who choose to read this. So, to Matt and Lexi! May your marriage be a journey that is filled with love, joy, adventure, and more. You both are wonderful people and I am grateful for the value you have added to my life.
