Call to Action

Heyo! So, I have decided to embark on a little journey, and if you are here, then you have decided to join me or maybe you are on the fence of joining me, either way, a journey this will be.

My name is Donnie Don Juan, I know the website says so, but let us be clear (haha) and redundant (:p). Anyways, sometime ago I decided i wanted to do an Ironman, no I do not typically enjoy grueling hours of pain, but I do love challenges! I am also about to turn 30 years old (next year! I am still 20! I am not bitter about that at all, can you tell? haha) and well I thought this would be one way to transition into my 30s. And so the desire of finishing an ironman was ignited!

But, after some more thinking, I thought I could do even more, and instead of making this about a journey for me alone, why not include more people, why not go bigger? And so here we are with this campaign. My goal is to raise $10,000 dollars and I am specifically fundraising for an organization that means a whole, heck of a lot to me, Opportunity Tribe.

So, would you like to join me on this journey?

I will be posting regularly on my socials, I'll do my part and complete the Ironman, do you think we can reach the goal of raising $10,000 for Opportunity Tribe together?!

Why did I pick Opportunity Tribe?

This organization is truly near and dear to my heart, and honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. I could probably write an entire book about what it means to me. In fact, one of my dreams is to produce a documentary that tells the story of Opportunity Tribe (Op Tribe), because I believe in its mission that deeply.

The reason I chose Op Tribe for this campaign is simple: it’s one of the most authentic organizations I’ve ever encountered. In today’s American culture—especially with the rise of social media—we’re constantly surrounded by curated images of what people want us to see. But Op Tribe is different. It’s real. What you see is truly what you get, and that kind of authenticity is incredibly rare.

Therefore, I picked Opportunity Tribe. Additionally, I would like more people to know about this phenomenal organization and the impact it is making in its community.

It is an organization that I have both volunteered for, and now currently work for, that has transformed the lives it services and my own.

There’s a well-known saying: “Hurt people hurt people.” But did you know there’s a powerful counter to that? “Healed people heal people.” That’s exactly what Opportunity Tribe is all about. It’s an organization that, when you become part of it, contributes to healing lives from the inside out.

What is an Ironman?

An “Ironman” triathlon is a long-distance triathlon, a grueling endurance event consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run (marathon), requiring significant physical and mental preparation.

What is Opportunity Tribe?

Opportunity Tribe is a non-profit, mentoring organization that is affecting change in the lives of kids who are fatherless and poverty stricken and need a caring adult to create positive affect in their life.

Opportunity Tribe annually serves 800 students through 400 volunteers investing 47,000 hours a year in Christian mentoring. Op Tribe is a leader of investing people and time into mentoring at-risk youth in public schools in order to help them read, provide emotional support and build life-long relational equity. Op Tribe is a community seeking the wellness of kids with the simple ideal of wanting to love our neighbors like we love ourselves.
