What do you see in the featured picture above? Happiness? Fun? Laughter? Good times?
How about loyalty, friendship, a bond.
Where do I begin with these two? How do I even begin? These guys have had my back. We’ve done stupid shit. We’ve seen stupid shit. We’ve been through shit together. These guys are family. These guys are friends. We are the Trio. As we call ourselves. And though this picture can convey some of the adjectives I addressed earlier what you don’t see are all the moments that prefaced these singular moments.
What you don’t see are the tears we shared together, the struggle, our endurance of life. You don’t see the many times these guys had my back and I had theirs. But, the nature of this writing is not for you to recognize the interplay of three people’s lives, but rather the compelling force and pure wonder of a bond.
It’s ironic, we have our ideas and expectations of what we may believe is good for us or right for us. And yet the very instance we pursue that very thing we find it not to be the case. What I love about these two guys, this trio, the bond that we have formed and shared is that I had absolute no part in it. I did not seek them, nor do I believe they sought after me, rather what was, a time of three independent strangers, became what is, three guys who call each other brother and live for each other as such. And none of us had any part in it. Wonderful.
The bonds that we will share with others in life are priceless, and as I continue this journey of Life I find that the relationships that we form or have formed are far more pivotal. As we got older, at least as a millennial, we seek to establish ourselves in Life: our career, our identity our world-views, etcetera, and I think we get lost in all of that. I think to an extent it is superfluous and we have to recognize that we are relational beings.
And the bonds that we form with others, well that’s the secret sauce to Life or an ingredient of it at the very least.
To A.D. and MJ, if you have read this far, alongside those of whom who are dear friends of mine, I love you and appreciate you.
Always Love
