Old friends, Snowboarding, and Chat GPT?

friends and partners together

I am definitely a little late in writing this haha, but such is life! I went on a ski trip with some buds, now almost two months ago (oh how time flies) and it was so fun!

This particular group of friends holds a whole lot meaning in my heart, because we have been friends since childhood, literally, I have known most of these guys (sorry girlfriends ;p) since we were kids in junior high school and oh the times we had (anyone remember the two seater bike, the 10 mile journey, and the parade?!). So, I definitely wanted to write about this trip.

Now, I know this truth, and yet it still never ceases to amaze me: we can often attribute the characteristics of friendship to time and distance, the greater the time spent or the closer the proximity, the greater the degree of relationship. I have often subscribed to that line of thinking myself. Although, it is a trip like this, with friends like these where that pattern of thinking is challenged, and I find that friendship, in its purest form, is solely defined by the depth of intimacy an individual or individuals are willing to share with each other.

I see these guys maybe once a year, we all have our own lives, and we are separated by various distances (hailing from: Washington, Arizona, Colorado, Texas). Additionally, we are growing older, which is accompanied by more responsibilities. All–time, distance and responsibilities–of which are challenges to the bridge of connection. But, there we were, in Colorado: hanging out with each other, disconnected from our cell phones (by choice), talking to each other. We cooked for one another; we engaged in deep conversation; we enjoyed the jacuzzi (yes, that is all guys and maybe the jacuzzi was a little small), and oh, I cannot forget the in depth discussion of Chat GPT (thank you Simon) we engaged in for at least 3 hours!

We were intimate and vulnerable, and it was a wonderful and sweet moment.

In a culture and world, today, that seems so divided or isolated by technology, there we were in the mountains of Colorado, existing and being with each other, my heart was full then and remains so now.

If any of you guys managed to read this, I love you! I am honored to know you and thank you for the time you shared with me on that weekend, shoot thank you for the many memories we have made together already, you have made my life so much fuller!
